If you've served in the military, we'd love for you to consider working with us. Your leadership and professional experiences have prepared you to overcome great challenges. You know more than anyone what it means to work as a team and value others. You believe in what you do, and you're willing to work to make it great. We think you'd make a great fit here, and we would be proud to work alongside you.

If you obtained your CDL-A in the military or are working to get your CDL-A with one of our approved driving schools, we can put you to work with as little as 1-6 weeks of training.

Did you know that if you are or were employed within the past year (12 months) in a military position requiring the operation of a military motor vehicle equivalent to a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), you are eligible for a waiver to apply for a CDL without skills testing? Simply complete this form and provide it when you apply for your CDL.

U.S. Army

We are currently looking for diesel mechanics, drivers and leaders.

Sergeant Tim Barnes, U.S. Army (right), proudly served six years and is the fourth generation of his family to serve. He supported his country in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and received numerous awards, including three Commendation Awards. He now serves as security coordinator for all of our facilities, ensuring the safety and security of our associates.

U.S. Air Force

We are currently looking for diesel mechanics, drivers and aviation techs.

U.S. Air Force veterans Sam and Theresa Grinder are true representatives of how military veterans can make a strong impact on the everyday operations of Averitt. Sam and Theresa met and were married while serving in the Air Force, and they’ve been with Averitt for a combined 30 years. Sam is a leader with our purchasing team, and Theresa is a Truckload driver administrator. They both use their military skills and training to provide support to Averitt’s associates.

U.S. Marine Corps

We are currently looking for diesel mechanics, drivers and leaders.

Sergeant Pete Ziegler, U.S. Marines (above), recalls his four years of active duty as “one of the greatest impacts on his life.” He served in 14 countries and was involved in numerous missions. These experiences have formed Pete into the person he is today, an Averitt service center director, managing the day-to-day operations and personnel at  one of our 100+ locations.

U.S. Navy

We are currently looking for diesel mechanics, drivers and leaders.

After nine years in the U.S. Navy, which included two deployments on a nuclear powered submarine and four years as a Navy recruiter, Roger Simmons joined the Averitt team as a selection coordinator.  His military experience has served him well to help him find qualified drivers who meet Averitt’s high standards just like the U.S. Navy.

U.S. Coast Guard

We are currently looking for aviation technicians and diesel mechanics.

As a former boatswain’s mate third class in the U.S. Coast Guard, Chris Stone understands what it takes to skillfully organize, lead and make split-second decisions. His six-year background of service has set a solid foundation for him to excel with Averitt as a Truckload Regional Manager. His dedication and leadership brought Chris to Averitt, where our culture shares many of the same values as the military.

If anyone knows how to work as a team and value others it’s the men and women who have served our country. The level of leadership, pride and professional experience they bring to the table is a perfect fit with our own company’s culture. Which is why we’re always eager to hire former military personnel.

In fact, the U.S. Department of Defense recently recognized Averitt as a Patriotic Employer for our efforts in “contributing to the national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.”
